Calling all wine lovers. If you’ve ever dreamt of a wine trip with friends or family this is the ultimate journey to taste some of the finest wines of Spain and Portugal. 

Our wine adventure begins in the wine region of Alt Penedés in Catalonia where we’ll taste Spain’s sparkling wine alternative to France’s Champagne, Cava. Known for its slightly more earthy tones, Cava is growing in popularity internationally for its drinkability and value pricing. 

Spend some down days wandering through Barcelona’s historical monuments, La Sagrada Familia, Parc Güell, Casa Batlló, Casa Mila, the Gothic Quarter, Las Ramblas and dine by the coastal beach zone of Barceloneta.

A luxury van ride to Zaragoza will begin the next leg of our oenophile exploration where we’ll visit the stunning Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of Pilar, patron of Spain, on our way to La Rioja. Once in La Rioja, home to Tempranillo and Garnacha, we’ll taste award-winning wines in the company of their famous winemakers. Potential winery stops: Bodegas López de Heredia, Marqués de Riscal, Bodegas Muga and Eguren Ugarte.

The adventure continues on to Ribera del Duero. Potential winery stops: Bodegas Félix-Callejo, Dehesa de los Canónigos, Abadia Retuerta and Tomas Postigo.

Our final stop will take us into the hilly Portuguese wine region of Douro Valley and the iconic town of Porto. A scenic boat ride and wine tasting down the Douro river is the best way to experience the iconic hillside landscape of the Douro Valley wineries. Home to Colheita and Tawny Ports, we’ll also taste some classic vintages at a winery dating back to 1692. Potential winery stops: Caves Taylor’s, Caves Graham’s, Churchill’s Wine Cellar, and Real Companhia Velha. 

We’ll conclude our ultimate Iberian Peninsula wine experience with a farewell lunch among the colorful seaside buildings of Porto. And we’ll leave you with the knowledge that “In Vino, Veritas!”
