Portugal & Southern Spain Discovery

16 DAYS, 15 NIGHTS

Portugal and Spain, often called the Iberian brothers for their shared history, are both rich in culture and gastronomy, each with its own identity.

Start your discovery in Porto and be enchanted by its beautiful Baroque architecture and tiles, iconic Dom Luís Bridge, fine wines, and world-class gastronomy. Sailing the Douro River you will enjoy the picturesque scenery of its vineyards and know more in-depth the culture of harvesting in this area.

On the way to Lisbon, you will visit the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fátima, where numerous apparitions of the Virgin Mary have occurred, and the brightly colored town of Costa Nova, a seafood heaven.

Arriving in historic and colorful Lisbon, the second oldest European Capital, you are at once reminded of Portugal’s rich history as well as its place in modern economic and financial activity. Lisbon's iconic yellow tram Number 28 will bring you along with the city's best spots and get a glimpse at its culture and identity. You will explore Avenida da Liberdade, Comercio Square, colonial-style cafes in Rua Augusta, and Belem Tower, where the famous Portuguese explorers started their voyages of discovery. Before heading to Spain we will visit the castle and well of Sintra and the beautiful town of Cascais.

Fall in Love with Spain and Andalucia as we explore this enigmatic and spellbinding Southern Spanish region. Following the steps of other famous explorers, we’ll use Sevilla as our home base. An authentic experience in Sevilla is not complete without exploring its tiny Old Town streets, bar hopping at local tapas restaurants, and taking a  historic horse carriage ride around Sevilla’s Cathedral and Plaza de España.

We’ll continue down our discovery of Southern Spain by stopping at the mountainside town of Ronda with its booming culinary scene and awe-inspiring bridge. From here, we’ll visit beautiful coastal towns like Málaga and Marbella where the food is as delicious as the people are beautiful.

Granada and Cordoba, two well-preserved cultural cities that point towards the unique combination of Moorish and Catholic architecture, are visual examples of the complex and important part that the Iberian Peninsula played in Mediterranean history. We’ll explore the iconic and architectural masterpiece of the Alhambra in Granada and the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba, a unique structure that has been repurposed multiple times to accommodate the prevailing religion of the time.

Both Portugal and Spain play a significant role in the discovery of new lands from their many naval explorations, but on this 16 day trip, you’ll truly discover the soul of the Iberian Peninsula.

Price Starts at $11,500 pp
