Portugal, a once powerful and rich country due to its numerous explorations, is a country full of undiscovered gems. Home to many types of geographic landscapes, the country, while small, offers an abundance of activities, sights, and beautiful destinations. 

Our 12 day adventure will take us along the western coastline of the Iberian Peninsula, spanning from Porto in the North to Lisbon to Faro in the South. 

A city with roots dating back to both the Roman Empire and the Celtic expansion into Europe, Porto is one of the oldest cities in Europe. As the port city at the mouth of the Douro River, Porto lies in close proximity to the famous port wines of the Douro Valley where you can find wines dating back to the times of Christopher Columbus.

Lisbon, the economic center of Portugal, also lays claim to the title of the second oldest capital in Europe. Its rich history is evident in the architectural riches of this colorful city. The famous yellow tram, Number 28, takes visitors through the cultural gems and main streets of this historical city. 

From Lisbon, Portugal’s seaside towns offer an abundance of stunning castles, coastal towns, and vibrant buildings. Even more stunning are the caves and cliffs of Algarve, the southern region of Portugal. These stunning geographic formations contrast starkly and beautifully with the blue waves of the Atlantic Ocean which have been known as a hotspot for great surfing. Algarve, with the quaint towns of Portimão, Lagos, Tavira, and Faro offers a relaxing and calm end to this culturally rich journey.
